Show 7 (25minutes 18second)

Our longest and best show yet. Discussions still continue about how we can include as many contributors as possible. Not sure if we are gonna make a higher number of shorter shows, or if we include more presenters in each show. This show includes music by Le Tigre, Graham Larkbey, The Cyklones, and GirlSonic. Recorded 22nd May 2008.

Show 6 (19minutes 52second)

To allow more pupils to participate we have split the show into two halves, a boy half and a girl half. Two distinctly differing styles of presenting. With music by The Beastie Boys, Phatboye, Joe Sibol, and Robb Johnson. Recorded 15th May 2008.

Show 5 (10minutes 27second)

The last show for the original four presenters together, with future shows being split into 2 halves with extra presenters. Includes music by Thievery Corporation, Tracey Curtis, and a mash-up mix of The Beastie Boys, The Rapture, and Le Tigre. Recorded 8th May 2008.

Show 4 (8minutes 1second)

A school closure on Thursday resulted in this show being recorded on a Friday. The two girls did great job covering for the absences of the boys. Includes music by DJ Dolores and GirlSonic. Recorded 25th April 2008.

Show 3 (9minutes 44seconds)

With more optimistic/upbeat banter, the kids have also added 'shout-outs' to other pupils. Includes music by Thievery Corporation, Zap Mama, and The Beastie Boys. Recorded 3rd April 2008.

Show 2 (12minutes 44seconds)

We decided to extend the recording time and also been thinking about ways that we could include sections recorded by other pupils. With music by Tracey Curtis, The Rapture, and Bob Collum. Recorded 27th March 2008.

Show 1 (8minutes 55seconds)

Our first proper show. After the kids have finished recording, Mr Molloy would takes the finished mini-disc and remix the audio - editing out dead-air (the over-long pauses), and then re-dubbing the music and jingles - just to give it a more polished sound. With music by Phatboye and Robb Johnson. Recorded 20th March 2008.

FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

Who records the show? The show was originally presented by just four year 6 pupils, Sophie, Callum, Georgia, and Adil, but the show has recently included an additional 4 presenters, Jordan, Tasleema, Thomas, and Nazia. The finished recordings are tinkered-with by Mr Molloy.

How were the children chosen? Auditions were held one lunch-time, with pupils having to talk for one-minute non-stop on a completely random subject.

How can other pupils contribute to the show? We love the idea of pupils creating their own audio tracks to include in our shows. Nearly all computers have a socket to plug a microphone into, and mics can be bought for as little as a few quid. You could record jokes, interview someone, sing a song, review a film, anything you like - just remember: 1) Keep it short and sweet (preferably about 10-90 seconds) 2) Make sure you're not being rude about someone, or a group of people.

Why do you not play the same music as 'proper' radio stations? All the music we play and use is either created by the kids (the jingles), copyright-free, creative-common licensed (the artist give permission for non-profit usage), or by artists who have given their blessing for us to use their stuff.

Why do you not include a link to The Beastie Boys site? The Beastie Boys are a wonderful band, but their website may include stuff that it is not suitable for younger children.
